The Kingdom of Bones and Lies

Marline Marcotte is the king's chief assassin who lives with her parents in the Bones Kingdom. Her life is one of privilege as well as duty, but she discovers that many people are being killed for possessing magical powers and abilities. The king has decreed that anyone possessing those abilities shall be killed, lest they become too powerful and try to usurp his throne. Marline also has magical powers but hides them as she does not want to become one of the casualties.In a separate but binding thread, an evil and powerful sorcerer, Wes Olivo, wants to kill the king to take over the throne and rule the kingdom. Olivo's son, Jordan Echols, has been tasked with the mission to kill the king. As fate or luck--or both--would have it, Marline and Jordan meet. They instantly form a connection, and Jordan begins to visit Marline. However, she does not know that he is the son of the enemy. Jordan's father also does not know that his son is flirting with a citizen from the kingdom.Affairs of the heart take a turn for the worse when the king learns of Wes's plans and engages Marline's services to kill the evil sorcerer as well as his son. Marline does not know Jordan's true identity, nor he, hers. They may end up killing each other, or they may be able to escape their fate. It becomes a matter of which is stronger, love or duty.
