Having to postpone his wedding plans, again disappointing everyone, he learns that one of his detectives, Ronnie Higgins, has been arrested for murder. Curtis finds himself investigating the crimes contrary to the FBI's order to stay out of it. While the DA tracks all his movements, Curtis tries to find answers that only a dead witness would have been able to give him.
Meanwhile an old service buddy comes to town and joins Curtis in his search for the truth. Just as they get close his daughter is kidnapped. Curtis finds himself about to face a grand jury for conspiracy, racketeering, and possibly murder. Is he having a nightmare?
