The Triumph of Caesar

THE ROMAN CIVIL WAR IS OVER. After years of fighting, Julius Caesar has returned to Rome itself. The opposition has been crushed, but Caesar stilt has enemies, and his plan to make himself a king has stirred fresh discontent.

Gordianus the Finder is retired, but even he cannot refuse a summons from Calpurnia, Caesar's wife. The man she hired to investigate a rumored conspiracy against her husband's life has just turned up dead, his body dumped on Calpurnia's doorstep. With four successive Triumphs to celebrate his military victories scheduled in the coming days, Caesar will be exposed to danger at every turn. Gordianus agrees to do what he can to save Caesar's life. But once an investigation begins, there's no knowing what it will turn up, who will be put in danger, or where it will end.
