About This Book

Jace's start. Although Jace Hawke grew up in the place many people call ‘sin city', Las Vegas, Nevada, he grew up respecting life and all of its features. His father, Erwin Hawke raised Jace after his wife died. He swore he would raise the boy properly. Erwin owned a modest casino and it was there that young Jace learned much about the world while viewing the different people he saw from his father's upstairs office windows. He was never allowed ‘on-the-floor'. His father's good friend and casino manager, Marty Bishop took young Jace under his wing whenever Erwin had to leave town on business. Through the years growing up, Jace excelled in most everything he attempted. He was there when friends needed him. He drew the line at taking sides when people argued their differences. He controlled the one bad habit he had, his temper. Erwin Hawke held a deep secret from Jace. Erwin was a mercenary soldier. Unlike many mercenaries, the organization that Erwin worked for hired out only to countries that could not control the bad element within their own borders. His group was called ARC. The Apprehension and Removal of Criminals. Watching his son grow to be a man of integrity and bravery, Erwin asked his fellow fighters and his superiors to try and induct his son Jace into their group, but only after Erwin Hawke has passed on. He asked an old friend, Mike Primm to look out for Jace and tell him, when the time comes, of his father's ways and why he was not always there for the boy. Mike Primm agreed to do so. Prior to joining ARC, Jace spent several years in the military. His record was impressive. His rise in the ranks caught Mike Primm's eye. As he watched young Jace become a man of principal, he realized that his earlier thoughts about Jace were wrong. He had been sure Jace was turning out to be just another kid out there. He saw that he was wrong. It took many years and some spent high-powered rifle rounds to bring Primm and Jace together. An assassin's attempt on Jace caused enough damage to his legs that early retirement from ARC was necessary. It was time now for Primm to sit down and tell Jace Hawke everything about his father.
