DCI Caton is back! It is the hottest summer on record. Brexit looms. In the break between the School Prom, and starting College, Chrissie falls helplessly in love. When her lover fails to respond to her texts, and messages Chrissie sets out to find him, stumbles into a living nightmare, and disappears without trace.
Back at FMIT after two years away, Caton is tasked with finding Chrissie. Playing catch-up, following false leads, obstructed by a well-meaning social media campaign, he is close to despair. When a breakthrough leads to a gruesome discovery he realises that time is running out for both Chrissie, and Operation Rhiannon.
