Dorothy Parker must review a new Broadway play starring Alexander Woollcott—but the only thing that might liven up this night's drama is a dead body.

When Woollcott fires a fake gun during the play, a real bullet shoots out, and famous actor Malcolm Molehill drops to the stage—perhaps his final act. It's no mystery that Woollcott shot Molehill. But who loaded the real bullet in the fake gun? Dorothy Parker must use her considerable cunning and craftiness to find the truth among a real cast of characters, each of whom has a convincing motive for burying Molehill or framing Woollcott.
