One Way Out

Imagine for a moment that all at once the entire civilized world comes to a screeching halt. No power, not even on your cellphone. Nothing works. Planes fall from the sky. And while this tragedy is befalling mankind, more than half of human beings turn into some strange form of zombie-like creatures, inscrutable in nature. They aren't after brains, but they are after something.With this one day off, Mike has decided to take advantage of his laundry while his wife is at work 30 miles away at the hospital helping kids at CHOP. When the world collapses all around him, upending every hope of a normal life henceforth, he remembers a promise they made to each other. They would meet at a half-way spot, their favorite diner.With no working vehicles and no mode of communication, Mike sets out on the dubious quest, hoping against hope that she'll be there.
