AJ Bugbee is trying to adjust to a new boss, a hard-assed career climber, when he's hit with two more urgent problems - his dad's heart attack and the discovery of a little girl all alone in a boat drifting off of Wamphassuc Point. Make that three problems - Ben Shortman, the otherworldly friend who won't stay gone, is determined to get in the middle of everything.The girl doesn't speak a word, but that doesn't keep her from getting AJ, his friends, and the Stonington P.D. involved in an increasingly dangerous web of lies and violence. Although she was left behind in the boat, it isn't long before men from both Maine and upstate New York come looking for her. As he tries to take care of his family and get to the bottom of what happened in the boat that night, AJ finally has to answer the question that he's been dodging his whole life.
