About This Book

The first of a new Scottish crime series that you have to read

A fast moving, gripping crime novel set in the tough crime-ridden streets of Glasgow.

Scott Stevenson was a despicable character and nobody mourns when his bloody corpse is found with an ivory tusk driven through his torso. DCI Alex Warren and his team are given the challenging task of discovering his killer. They investigate the numerous people Stevenson has harmed and their enquiries reveal a host of related crimes, motivated by sex and greed. As the body count starts to rise, they struggle to close the case before more lives are lost.

Review extracts

  • tight cast of interesting characters
  • Mr. Abrams does a great job of bringing the gritty streets of Glasgow to life
  • I found it so hard to stop reading that I missed my regular Tuesday TV Show
  • This book is an intriguing escape. It was dark but not too dark. As a reader I enjoyed every twist and turn.. The setting is made authentic not only by the author's Glasgow upbringing but his ability to visualize the grey, gloomy Scottish November that is a perfect setting for this whodunnit
  • The characters were great. The reason for the murder was believable. I can see it happening in real life. In fact, I am sure it has.

Made a Killing is the first novel of Zach Abrams' - Alex Warren Murder Mystery series. It's a tartan noir thriller set in Glasgow. This British Police Procedural features Detective Chief Inspector Alex Warren as the senior investigating officer together with female detective, Sergeant Sandra McKinnon and supported by a team of detectives, scene of crime technicians and other specialists. Besides the main murder investigation, the team research a range of other criminal activities including financial crime, fraud, blackmail and extortion. Away from the crime investigation, there's family drama as well as a touch of romance and more than a sprinkling of humour. Readers familiar with the geography of Scotland and Glasgow in particular can associate with the area as the detectives tread their weary path on their way to researching the crimes and solving the mystery.
Other books in the Alex Warren Murder Mystery series are ‘A Measure of Trouble' and ‘Written to Death'. In addition Zach Abrams is the author of two financial crime thrillers, ‘Ring Fenced' and ‘Source' and he has co-written ‘Twists and Turns' an anthology of short stories.
