Pastor Matt Hayden is asked to deliver the Texas Inaugural Ceremony's benediction after the scheduled speaker, Reverend Duff, disappears. Though happy to do a favor for his friend, the new governor, Matt soon discovers that a simple prayer can ignite a world of hate.Being a former cop, Matt becomes suspicious when no one seems concerned that the pastor is missing, including the man's assistant and several high-profile political and religious conservatives. The new governor is concerned, however, and asks Matt to help in the search for Duff.Still recovering from a bullet to the head suffered the previous year, Matt is reluctant to pursue the matter.
