Yen Olass is trained to read the future — not to change it. But when a desperate warrior arrives at her door demanding more than a prophecy, she is drawn into a feud that has consumed the Collosnon warlords for generations. What begins as a single request soon entangles her in war, madness, and wizardry far beyond anything her training prepared her for.

"Lord Alagrace said you'd help."
"Any oracle can give you a reading," replied Yen Olass.
"I told Alagrace an oracle couldn't help me," said the Ondrask. "I told him I wasn't interested in a reading. But he told me you'd do better than that. He told me you'd fix it."
"What?" said Yen Olass.
She was genuinely shocked, and it took a lot to shock her.

She would play a greater part in the fate of the Collosnon Empire than any oracle had ever imagined.
