She is the author of Beyond Measure, shortlisted for several prizes including the Commonwealth Writers' Prize and the Giller Prize, and winner of the Ethel Wilson Prize for fiction. Her latest novel, Into the Heart of the Country, was longlisted for the 2011 Scotiabank Giller Prize. She lives on Vancouver Island.
