Among the bright costumes and masks of the Venetian carnival dark threats are lurking. When an attempt is made on her life, Cassandra is drawn into the conflict between undead factions and a plot to extort a vampire prince. However with her father tracking her magic, she swears off using it for fear of being taken. Relying on her wits, she must discover who her enemies are in order to advert tragedy.
