Going to a new school meant starting all over.

Cathy Wakefield knows sixth grade will be the worst year of her life. She has to go to the new junior high and her two best friends — Mary Kay and Francie — won't be going with her. Cathy's whole life is practically shattered, and nobody else seems to think it's a big deal.

But then Cathy meets Jessica Green, the most sophisticated girl in the entire sixth grade. Jessica's better than Mary Kay and Francie combined, and Cathy Knows that life will be perfect if only Jessica will like her.

The trouble is, Jessica couldn't care less about Cathy. And everybody knows it — except Cathy herself.
