True Stories

True Stories is story #12 in The Bethesda Wars.

David True is an ordinary man living an ordinary life. A lawyer who works in Family Court, working with families in need. He wants nothing more than to help the people he works with and be there for his own family. He could never imagine that anything out of the ordinary would happen to his domestic but happy life. Until one day in court, he is assigned two cases that will change not only his life, but how he views life in general.

In the first case he represents the reprehensible Jerome Spider, a man accused of sexually abusing a young girl named Jennifer Meeklin. His heart breaks as he looks at the ordeal this poor girl has gone through: how could she ever recover, how could she ever be more than the weak, scared, powerless girl before him?

And in the second he represents twin thirteen year old children, Ryan and Mary Walsh. Placed in foster care, he does everything he can to make their transition into CSS custody as smooth as possible. It is of course beyond all their control that another foster child in the house, Damian Alan Kay, is bent on destroying all of their lives.
