Troubled Waters

Brooklyn lawyer Cass Jameson faces the most difficult case of her career when she is called upon to defend her brother Ron against a murder charge. The case takes Cass back to a past in which she and Ron joined forces to protest social injustice... and were thrown in jail for their efforts. Years later, Cass became an attorney, while Ron, who had returned from Vietnam in a wheelchair, was still fighting the system head-on. As he and his girlfriend, Jan, were transporting refugees across the Canadian border, a confrontation ended in the death of a federal agent. Charged with murder, Jan fled, living as a fugitive for the next fifteen years. Now, she returns to turn herself in--and name Ron as her accomplice. Cass, convinced of her brother's innocence, is determined to clear his name--even if she has to use his condition to play on the jury's sympathy.

But her problem isn't the jury. It's Ron himself, who is still in love with Jan--and appears unwilling to do what he must to save himself...
