Alcester's East End, considered the most crime-ridden part of the city, is a place few willingly choose to begin or end their law enforcement careers. Banished after a political faux pas, Detective Timothy Hudson finds himself partnered with Detective Andrew Mackenzie, a man whose troubled past is only just offset by a knack for closing cases. But the discovery of a body on the shore of The East End River launches an investigation that could end more than just their partnership. As Tim navigates his partner's often questionable approach to law enforcement, their journey takes them deep inside Alcester's dark heart, and a case they shouldn't have touched becomes one they can't let go, even if it breaks more than their careers.
