The Wounded Man is an undiscovered gem. The story moves quickly, through dialogue and stunning action. The main character and sometime narrator is Grant Macallan, an ex-marine and ex-DA who is battling cancer while keeping together his small criminal law office. The novel swirls around his relationship with Gwen Alvarez, a corporate lawyer and Harvard Law graduate, who happens to be Grant's lover. Grant and Gwen's star-crossed trajectory through the Southern California landscape takes them to the heights of power, and the depths of disaster. The major and minor characters are fully realized and intriguing. Grant and Gwen hurtle through a tapestry of corruption, sex and murder to a shattering conclusion.
