The Wild Women of Lake Anna

Wild Women, a ForeWord magazine Book of the Year finalist, is the first in the award-winning Bailey Fish Adventure series. Eleven-year-old Bailey Fish, unexpectedly sent from Florida by a traveling mother to live with her grandmother in Virginia, must adjust to new surroundings. Feeling abandoned, Bailey is confronted by a neighborhood bully, whose father is out to get Bailey's environmentalist grandmother, Sugar. Bailey's life is further complicated when her teacher asks her to help the bully's little sister with reading. Bailey draws courage and inspiration from stories about the family'swild women, including a WWI spy, to have adventures of her own. She learns about historic gold mining and what home really is. This is the first in a series.
