Growing up in the frozen land of Nairt'kun, Venadis always dreamed of escaping her life of slavery. Her opportunity comes when Martokallu recruits King Norgrith's armies for his fight against the Hawks.   Fearing her powerful magic, Venadis's masters force her to wear an iron collar.
