About This Book

"Not all wolves are raised outside. Some live in houses. They don't go to your school, so you wouldn't know them." It's not always safe to eat the cake. Sometimes the eggnog is poisoned. Not all children are safe, either. Not entirely. Though you might know some, or at least they know you. Our unnamed protagonists are a pair of dangerous children living on the green edge of London. Where there are human wolves, ant queens, owls and foxes. Close to a wood were not all those who venture in come out again safely. In a place between wild imaginings and fierce friendship there are strange games to play and curious artifacts bubble up from the mire. Composed in the spirit of The Gashlycrumb Tinnies by Edward Gorey, The White Owl And Other Small Stories is equal parts nonsense, whimsy, and menace, as told by two peculiar children and set down by their more peculiar father.
