Actor-turned-attorney Steve Winslow attracts unusual clients. Winslow's not entirely surprised when the homeless man sitting in his waiting room turns out to he Jack Walsh, one of the richest amen in America, looking for advice about changing his will.

Rejecting the soullessness of big business, Walsh lives in the New 'irk City subway system--which is where his murdered body is soon found. The police arrest the loudmouthed, drug-dealing teenager who was Walsh's favorite nephew. The kid insists he's innocent.

Steve Winslow believes him. Now all he has to do is convince a jury... and find the real killer. Luckily he has help--but what help!--an ex-football star turned private detective and a wise-cracking secretary with a fondness for hard-boiled mystery novels.
