In the heart of rural Montana, a lawyer and a newspaper reporter are on a collision course for survival. Benjamin R. Carr, Attorney at Law, from California, has been assigned a case that was described as a simple tax inquisition, but he is quickly discovering otherwise. The quest descends into a sweeping conspiracy that seems to overtake the entire state of Montana. Entrenched in the center of this case are shady businessmen, an intriguing Native American, and a reporter that will go to any length to get the scoop. After uncovering each other's brutal history, the two forge an understanding, but not a friendship.
