About This Book

The Thief and the Mandolin follows the stories of two people, Hastiand, a bard that carries an evil, talking mandolin, and Satchel, a young thief-for-hire on his first solo job. Through the mandolin, Hastiand hopes to redeem past sins. In turn, the creature within the mandolin depends on Hastiand's help to break free of its prison. When Hastiand inadvertently kills a man, a bounty hunter named Amon begins tracking him. But, Amon's reasons for pursuing Hastiand go beyond mere reward money. Satchel's first solo job, stealing a scroll and a spyglass, goes well until his employer attacks him, but Jarek, Satchel's gruff mentor, intervenes and saves him. When Hastiand tries to take the scroll, it sparks a journey that takes Satchel across Tirian to discover the truth behind these strange items, one that will test Satchel's mettle as a man. Meanwhile, the White Knight, bent on shaping the world to his liking, moves in the background to acquire the items for his own twisted means.
