Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the creator of detective Sherlock Holmes, is the father of crime fiction. 'The Sussex Vampire' – first published in 1927 in The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes – features a rare foray into vampire fiction from Doyle. Many of the earliest and most interesting vampire stories, particularly those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive.
