About This Book

Tanner Wilmer is a simple merchant who works the trade route along the Old Mountain Road that runs along the Thilnog Mountains and separates the City of Spiders from the Hobgoblin lands beyond. When Tanner's energetic son notes skeletons by the hundreds plunging into the sea near an old shipwreck it sets in motion a series of events that brings the powerful High Priest of the City in the Sand to the region. Seymour the Bright, and his seemingly all powerful Amulet of Ras, race towards Doria along with the stoic warrior Oliver to recover an ancient relic before Tanner and his allies can get it first.

Tanner and his family, along with the town witch, a pair of young urchins, his beautiful half-elf mistress, and the swordsman Shamki try to find out exactly what lies below.

Finding the terrible Staff of Naught only begins the quest as once the item is revealed, everyone wants to get a hold of the terrible relic of the Old Empire. Everyone has their own plans for the Staff and Tanner and his friends quickly find themselves in a far more dangerous situation than they ever imagined.

Their journey takes them to the secretive iron forge of Edorin Firefist high in the Thilnog Mountains and beyond as they must decide whether to use the Staff or try and destroy the thing before someone more powerful takes it from them.
