The year is 1953. Twenty two year old John David Shannon has returned to his rural home town after serving in the Korean war. There he hopes the serenity of his homeland will assist him in dealing with the memories of the war, and enable him to decide on a life path following his Marine Corps service. Much to his surprise, John David finds himself appointed Sheriff of Jubal, and then discovers a three year old murder that the Mayor, and possibly others,do not want investigated. There are people in this town that want the murder of this woman covered up, and are prepared to kill if necessary. John David was used to risking his life in Korea, but at least there he knew the enemy when he saw them. In Jubal, the killer, or killers, wear the faces of friends and acquaintances. Things are further complicated when John David finds himself in the middle of a battle between two beautiful women, each of whom are determined to become Mrs. John David Shannon. One is a hot blue eyed blonde, who also happens to be the Mayor's niece. The other is a very desirable and fiery brunette, who has been after John David most of his life. Both women are prepared to do what ever it takes to get the other one out of the new Sheriff's life.
