A man becomes involved with a homeless kid whose only goal, besides panhandling for beer money, is to go back to his hometown of Evanston, Ilinois. The man sees him as a surrogate for his brother, whose own struggle with substance abuse mirrors that of the kid, too closely. For that reason, he purposes to help the kid find his way back to his home and the family that seemingly abandoned him. But the streets have a way of detouring any good deed.
