The Black Prophecy
"A Prince in black, of icy power, Shall seek the book in sorcerer's tower That stands with trees of singing power; But reaching out to turn its page The Prince shall fall in powerless rage To die before day's final hour.
A child of noble birth alone May gift the Prince this ancient tome That rests within the sorcerer's home; A child whose youthful eyes have seen But fourteen springtimes, lush and green; And willingly gives the tome."
Veritas, the young Duke of Dulcia, has been kidnapped by Darius Darken, the Prince of Frosts. He needs the Duke to retrieve the Magia Potestatem, the book of Power Magic. With that tome in his hands, the Prince would become all but invincible and bring misery to not only Dulcia but the entire world. The Great Dragon, Optimus Draconis Ferric Metallica, the only metal dragon has sworn to prevent this.
Ferric travels to Middlington Kings in the heart of England, where he meets Tom-Tom Burrow and his friends, Tinker and Tariq. They agree to help Ferric - or the Scrapdragon, as they come to know him - rescue the missing Duke. The quest presents the children with many dangers and obstacles which they must overcome - crawling through tunnels, fighting with guards, fleeing from ghosts and many more. On the way they are helped or hindered by the outlaws of Winsome Woods, spiders who have a duty to the sun and the stars, disgusting wyrms in the Odour Vale, the giant of Tumulosus and his untrustworthy pet, Mister Snuffles, to mention but a few. And at the end they still have to face Prince Darken himself in a climactic battle against the reanimated dead
The Scrapdragon is a thrilling adventure of magic and sorcery by Nigel Edwards, suitable for children and young teens.
