About This Book

Wally Gustafson wakes from a drug-induced sleep in Giovanna Antonelli's bed finding her dead from a gunshot wound. With his revolver lying next to his lover, he believes he is being set up for her murder by her estranged husband, Captain Leonard Antonelli of the local police department. Wally obviously can't go to the police and enlists the aid of his friends: J.C. DuCheck, a local bar owner, and Harvey Stuhl, the city's code enforcement officer to help him avoid arrest while trying to prove his innocence. After an agonizing two days, Giovanna's body is discovered and Wally becomes a person of interest. That evening, Wally's theory about the captain's vendetta against him evaporates when Antonelli is found with his throat slashed. Wally is now being accused not only of his murder, but of the decades old slashing murders of two prostitutes as well. Attorney Bernard Eisner and Wally's friends delve into the murders and discover a connection between a local politician and the Don Vito LaBruscia Family which leads to a deadly and surprising ending.
