One warm night four children stood in front of a bakery. No one knew them. No one knew where they had come from.

Henry, Jessie, Violet, and Benny used to live alone in a boxcar. Now they have a home with their grandfather, and they are all visiting Virginia.

The Aldens are determined to help their cousin Althea keep her beautiful home, Peacock Hall. Maybe they can find the mysterious treasure rumored to be hidden there. However, when a face appears in Jessie and Violet's window and the gardener, Tate, seems to be hiding something, the Boxcar Children realize there may be lots of mysteries to solve at Peacock Hall!
