About This Book

Robin Sparrow is a weedy little man who always wears a white suit and cap to match. He has a serious problem because he is stricken by obsession. The only thing that fills his mind and his life is the strong desire to fly without the use of any kind of mechanism. Worst still, he firmly believes that one day he will turn into a bird and fly away.

He has two friends, Tom Chirk and Will Cardrew who work with him and the adoring Sheila, to whom he confides his intentions. She falls in love with him but he continues to reject her because he believes that he will soon fly away. His friends try to help but they are unsuccessful in getting him to change his mind. They contact his step-sister who tries to reconcile their relationship but she is unsuccessful because he will not forgive her.

A number of people become interested in him including reporters a scientist, the Secret Service agency and a book writer, much to the despair of his landlady who is constantly disturbed by visitors for her tenant.

His dreams begin to turn into a feathery reality so he drives to the White Cliffs of Dover to sally forth with his newly-sprouted wings into infinity.

This is a great fantasy and a delight to read.
