About This Book

This is an epic novel of personal and societal transformation, and one man's obligation to save the world. Rod Stokes has grown accustomed to his boring job of delivering packages in Los Angeles. But his routine is shattered when an epidemic of insanity starts infecting the population. It happens to everyone - his roommate, his clingy ex-girlfriend, and strangers on the street. Soon he is the last sane person in LA. The novel follows a Dickensian variety of characters as the Madness erupts. When people lose their their memories, their critical thinking skills, their social graces, and their identities, society begins to crumble. The last stage of the Madness is coma, and then death. For some reason the Madness doesn't affect Rod. He watches in horror as everyone around him becomes delusional, irrational, and impulsive. Rod is on the brink of despair when he meets Trina, the only other survivor of the Madness - and she is very attractive. The two survivors try to stay rational but soon the only thing they can think about is their attraction for each other. As Rod's love for Trina grows, he starts to think there is a great cosmic purpose to this mass psychosis, and that he and Trina were saved for a reason. Can he save everyone in time?
