Wayne Billings, half ogre/half leprechaun, receives an invitation to his friend Renee's anniversary party in Garland Falls, Minnesota, the home of many fantastical creatures. With St. Patrick's Day approaching, his leprechaun powers seem to be growing—gold coins appear in his pocket, and a rainbow follows him. And why does a skeletal woman visit him in his dreams? Eleanor Keyes runs the bookstore in Garland Falls where she's flesh and blood. In the realm known as the Dark Lands, she's a skeleton and the daughter of the Ferryman. Wayne is in danger from the ogres and leprechauns who both want to control his power. She can help keep him safe, but keeping her heart safe is a whole other problem.
