The Long Shot

Jill Tanner teams with the Innocent Project in hopes of finding evidence for an appeal for Francine Weldman, sent to prison for allegedly killing a homeless man near a Salvation Army clothes donation bin. The case brings Jill face to face with PPD Det. Drew Spinker, the on-scene incident commander when Jill's late husband, Sgt. Ben Tanner, was killed in a bungled shoot-out. The more evidence Jill uncovers, the more it appears that Det. Spinker railroaded her client, and years ago may have lured Ben to his death. Spinker is about to retire with full pension and will do anything to ensure nothing stands in his way.
