The Greatest of These

It's common knowledge that High Princess Virtue must be married by her twenty-first birthday, and even more common is the knowledge that her husband will inherit her father's position of High King over the four realms of Fern, Glen, Elm, and Dale. Not pleased at the prospect of being forced to choose a husband, Virtue and her aptly-named horse Feisty run off in disguise. Loyalty, a mysterious woman who lives in the wilds, takes in the princess and begins to show her that things aren't all bad. But evil lurks in the kingdoms, ready to snatch the princess away at any opportunity. It will take the strength of nations, and of Virtue's own heart, to decide who will rule.
