The Great Cheese War

The land of Poldorama was renowned for its dairy products, most especially the many cheeses it could produce. Some time ago rival cheese makers fought a trade war in which there could be only one winner, so the old chronicle said. Many years later and many miles from this strange land some of the girls from Miss Plazenby's Extremely Exclusive Seminary found a rival establishment had just opened across the road from their favourite eatery, the Squeaky Tomato. Vetta Mindal, a native of Poldorama, was curious about this new place with the odd name of the Cheetery. Others were less pleased and tried to dissuade anyone from going there. It seemed as if the Great Cheese War that had happened long before Vetta was born was about to play out once again in this new land, yet somehow the Cheetery seemed to be doing everything it could to lose that war from the very outset. There was something about the owners that triggered a memory in Vetta's mind so that when she dug deeper she found there was a mystery linked to the battle of the cheese makers the chronicle was notably silent upon. The only way Vetta could think of to solve this puzzle was to cross the picket line and enter enemy territory, even if her friends might accuse her of betrayal. What she found was warfare most strange and a long forgotten tragedy.
