Cranky old rancher Zeb Efraim is a desperate man, so desperate that he salts a deserted old mine on his ranch with gold dust to fool some greenhorn Easterners into buying it. Then he disappears.

Called in to find Zeb, Dakota King and his associate Longh Gonh suddenly find themselves caught in a mystery as twisted and spooky as the tunnels of the old mine—which now appears to be haunted! Dodging death by fire and torture by deadly ants, King searches for the old rancher.

Then Dakota King makes an unexpected exit, leaving the clues he has gathered behind.
