The Fourth Scenario

Visitors from the planet Verdant came to Earth half a million years ago. They altered the DNA of the inhabitants to produce a race in the aliens’ own likeness. Over the millennia, the Verdantians continued to monitor progress of the human race on Earth, but by the middle of the twentieth century were alarmed that the inhabitants showed no sign of ever managing to civilize themselves. Verdant chooses this moment to make contact. The alien craft lands and two women alight from it. One of them, Charlie Newton, is known to have been raised on Earth. The two women’s message is that the human race is about to self-destruct. Charlie’s ex-fianc©, John Day, is told by President Bennett to get to the bottom of the mystery. What’s behind this unbelievable prophecy? John rekindles a former relationship with Secret Service Agent Deborah Ricci, while the President and his cabinet struggle to determine the real reason for the sudden appearance of the extra-terrestrials.
