After being abandoned to an orphanage by his Iranian family and later adopted by an emotionally impoverished American couple, twenty-something Wade Van Clief finds himself slogging through an existential quagmire. In a desperate bid to fill the spiritual void, his search for an anchor ultimately takes him back to his biological family where he is met with an unexpected turn of events.When his grandfather tactfully hints at a long-simmering plot he has hatched against Wade's adoptive country, it takes little coaxing for the American to enlist.
