Five years after the event the created the zombies they begin showing signs of a developing consciousness. Though Captain Evan Stewart of the Island Defense Force notices the peculiar behavior he doesn't understand what it means until the island is overrun by what appears to be an organized assault. While the Island Defense Force struggles to push the massive herd back Evan and a small group of residents are trapped at the top of a twenty-six-story apartment building.
