Days after the Stile Cop attack, Karen Bradley and Harry Branston decide that, for the sake of their own sanity, they should move away from the multi-storey car park and into a place that is safe and warm. They drive to a small village, settle in a house that is devoid of life, and make themselves at home in a place they hope to stay for a long while.

Meanwhile, Jack Slade is enjoying his time at the village hall with his son, Thomas, and the new group. But how long can this contentment last with the Snatchers scattered across the villages and in the woods of this rural part of England?
