The Cowlick and the Crown

This book is story about a father telling his son a story. The story within the story is about a little boy who lived a long time ago who had cowlicky hair. His hair stuck up in every direction and people initially made fun of his irregular hair. However, the little boy recognized that his stick up hair was not really important and he focused his energy reading books and learning about the world. Eventually, the little boy with stick up hair became a great leader whose hair became his trademark. When he passed away after a long successful rule future rulers wanted to be recognized as wise leaders. Therefore, many rulers developed a hat they put on their heads that symbolized the unruly hair of the ancient great ruler. We know this hat today as a crown.
