About This Book

Marianne Parmenter, fifty-something ex-professional, single (at the moment), planned her retirement to be an idyllic adventure of exploring the back-waters of England on her canal boat The Wanderer.
However, after mooring up in the picturesque village of Wyevale it seems that it was not only her boat that was reluctant to move on.
Drawn into village life, Mrs P. agrees to organise Wyevale's Christmas Ball, an annual extravaganza which traditionally creates enough gossip and scandal to keep even herself busy for a few months. It soon becomes apparent though, why she has been 'volunteered' for the position; she has no idea what she is letting herself in for.

Amidst the usual goings-on in the picturesque Northamptonshire village, a tragic accident at the local girl's school threatens to overshadow the festivities. Mrs P.'s interest (a.k.a. nosiness), is suddenly piqued after the school's Chaplain disappears on an unscheduled vacation. Putting two and two together and coming up with more than four, she decides to do some investigating. With the help of Deidre and Laura, the trio are drawn into a series of events which is sure to end in nothing but trouble!

Based around the sleepy, snow covered canal-side village of Wyevale, Mrs P. once again provides an entertaining read for all cozy-mystery lovers.
