In the heart of historic Williamsburg, secrets, conspiracy and a sudden death greet travel journalist Jean Fairbairn. Visiting with her Scottish beau, ex-DCI Alasdair Cameron, she's digging into a story surrounding a pair of sixteenth-century artifacts: a Witch Box and its missing charm stone. First up is an interview with the Dingwalls—a couple of wacky conspiracy theorists convinced the box holds secrets that could change history.

But when a local artisan turns up dead—and the Dingwalls are somehow involved—Jean wonders how far they'll go to defend their theories. Jean starts to investigate the stone's past, but academic rivalries, dark deeds and desperation are closing in on All Hallows' Eve…a time when the things that go bump in the night could be deadly.
