About This Book

???Free white cat to good home.??? I had spotted the ad while searching for a cat to keep in my house. I had three other cats but they were used to being outside cats, used to scampering down to the small woods in front of our home and the freedom of being outdoors. I wanted one that would sit in my lap while I watched TV???a little, soft companion to snuggle. My husband had finally given in and agreed although he had always made it clear that he didn???t like or want animals in the house. This is how the story about the cat that became a dog begins but by the end of the story, what I want and what I get are two very different things. The next story, Road Kill, is about someone most of us can all identify with...someone just trying to make it to work in the morning. But this story is also about someone who gets something very different than what he expects. The third story is written in prose reminiscent of Poe's Raven. But surprises don't always have to be bleak in the world of dark doings. And the last offering is Angelique Whitherspoon. Maybe you've looked at the homeless as people who are defeated when in all reality they may just be involved in a very great battle for their own identity. This is a sweet story and character study.
