When Martin Prince, editorial director for a prestigious American publishing company, throws a holiday party at the lavish Le Grand Hotel, he has no idea that his upscale soiree will become the setting for savage murder. With a flamboyant writer dead, an entire floor of suspects, and the claim of haunted hallways, Professor John Darnell is called to the City of Light to unravel the mystery. A shrewd detective whose specialty is discrediting the supernatural, he doesn't believe that either the victim or the killer is a phantom.
