The Case of the Counterfeit Race Horse

A Jody and Jake mystery. A race to the finish! Jody and Jake are excited about their new jobs helping out at the stables of Mr. Barrett, a famous racehorse trainer and his jockey son, Peter. Jody is looking forward to a wonderful summer until a series of accidents give her the reputation of being accident-prone. She is unjustly fired and suspects someone wants her away from the tracks, and especially away from her favorite horse, Pure Energy. Pure Energy has always been a mystery horse. One day he is calm and docile, the next day he lashes out and bites her arm. Pure Energy enters his first race and loses by a mile. Later, he startles everyone by winning the tough Gold Cup. But the racing stewards suspect a fix. Mr. Barrett and Peter are suspended. Jody is determined to clear their names to prove their innocence. Were two similar horses used in a classic switch? If so, how and when was it done? And who could have done it Jody enlists Jake and Peter to help her create a daring and dangerous plan to save the reputation of the racing stables!
