About This Book

Jonas Lauer finds himself saddled with the job of Sheriff of Monroe County, Tennessee. A position he never wanted. His election was so unconventional, the county officals "lost" his badge, which suits Jonas just fine. All he wants to do is keep his head low and ride out the upcoming four years until the next election. However Jonas is about to discover that what we want and what we get are two very different things. Barely into his first year and Jonas finds himself embroiled in the county's first high profile murder in fifteen years. As he weaves his way through the bizzare circumstances surrounding the murder, Jonas must also deal with a deputy who has chronic foot in mouth disease, a picket line of corpulent women posted in front of his stationhouse, an elderly woman who believes her dogs are under attack from terrorists, a cannabis loving preacher who believes he's Jesus' thirteenth apostle, and a beautiful investigator from the attorney general's office. Juggling the chaos that is Monroe County, Jonas may discover he does have what it takes to be the "high" sheriff.
