What does it take to change a man's life? What does it take when that man has seen fame and adoration taken away suddenly and replaced by a long, slow decline into mediocrity? Jimmy Van Horn was an All Star for the Los Angeles Dodgers before an injury to his knee ended his career. Now, six years later and thousands of beers down the road, Jimmy has hit bottom in his own bar. He makes a stupidly clumsy pass at an employee and she drives him home only because he is too drunk to drive himself.

What he finds in his home shatters his complacency and starts him on a long road back to self-respect. He finds his home awash in blood and his wife and two daughters missing. As the case plays out, a detective, Marta Gregory, thinks she has enough evidence to charge him with the murder of his wife and children.

Except, one of his daughters shows up one rainy night and tries to kill him.
